Frequently Asked Questions

How accurate is the food scan?
Habitron uses OpenAI's GPT-4o vision model. For common foods at a normal eating angle, accuracy is typically within ±15% on calories. For packaged foods, scanning the barcode is more accurate than the photo. You can always edit a scan from the History tab if the AI gets it wrong.
Why does my daily calorie target look different from my friend's?
Targets are computed from your height, weight, age, gender, activity level, and goal — using the Mifflin-St Jeor BMR formula and standard activity multipliers. Two people with different bodies or different goals will see different targets. Go to Profile → Edit to update your stats.
How do I cancel my Premium subscription?
On iPhone, go to Settings → [Your name] → Subscriptions → Habitron → Cancel Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you'll keep Premium until then.
Will I lose my data if I cancel?
No. Cancelling Premium drops you back to the Free plan but keeps all your meal logs, weight history, and recipes. Free plans have a daily AI-scan cap; everything else stays.
How do I delete my account?
In the app: Profile → Account → Delete account → confirm. This permanently deletes your profile, meal log, weight history, conditions, recipes, and everything else linked to your account. It can't be undone.
Why is the app asking for camera, photos, and notifications?
- Camera — to scan food and barcodes
- Photos — to upload food images from your library
- Microphone — for voice queries to the AI Coach (optional)
- Notifications — meal reminders, hydration nudges, streak alerts
You can decline any of these at install time and grant them later from iOS Settings → Habitron.
Can I use Habitron without an account?
Habitron creates a guest account automatically the first time you open the app, so you can start tracking immediately without typing an email. You can later link the guest account to a Google or Apple sign-in from Profile → Save your data.
Does Habitron work offline?
You can log meals manually offline, but AI scans, AI Chef recipes, and the Coach chat require an internet connection.
Why does the day "roll over" at midnight in my timezone?
Habitron stores your timezone when you sign up. Daily counters (water, calories) reset at midnight in your local time, not midnight UTC. If you're traveling, your timezone updates automatically next time you open the app.
Is my health data private?
Yes. See our Privacy Policy for details. We don't sell personal data. Photos are sent to OpenAI for analysis but not retained long-term. Passwords are hashed (bcrypt) and never visible to us in plaintext.
